I got a pair of black with white dots and they are very cute. According to the c328 boss, those are L144. Can anyone confirm?

I got them cos uncle said they are bristlenoses which will not grow too big. They are about 3cm TL. Pretty active.

    Which one you referring to?
So far haven't seen any L144 at C328. L144 is a yellow coloured bristlenose, that looked like albino bristlenose but normal coloured eyes instead of the red eyes.

Black with white dots bristlenose can be a few different ones. But where did you pick them up from? The betta racks or the arowana tanks?

hi vincent, pls pardon my ignorance....the pair i got should not be L144, L144 are those albino ones. These are all found off the betta rack. Nevertheless, can anyone identify what 'L' series is it (it's one of the pair i got at c32. Many thanks.

This guy is a very interesting one which I myself have heard different views. Some say is commons, and I have also bought the longfin variant of it which is labelled as a bristlenose.

I was looking through planetcatfish.com for a possible match and found L309. But then, I might be wrong.

Let's hear what other pleco fans think.

If possible, take pictures of the bottom of the cat showing its mouth. That will help in some ways.

Looks very much like a baby version of L309.

    Puffer,

I've split out your discussion from the previous thread as it's a species specific discussion.

    Cheers,

No worries. We are here to help manage the discussion so that interesting topics are not lost in the other threads.

For plecos, did you try Fish Haven or Neo Kim Suey? They seem to be very active in this area too.

Personally, I like the Hypancistrus and Peckoltia family very much too.

For small plecos, under 12cm, Hypancistrus and Peckoltia families will be the way to go. However, they are not good algae eaters. They are more of omnivores with some having a tendency towards meat. Then there are also the dwarf Panaque family which the Germans gave a new genus of Panaqolus (not really recognised) which stay small as well.

planetcatfish.com is the best place to do your first cut of selecting the size. Then give a call to Fish Haven or Neo Kim Suey to check for their availability. One good method I use to see if the fish is common is the number of photos available in planetcatfish. Those that have little or no photos means that they are uncommon in the pet trade.

ive just read this thread through, puffer the L144 is Amelanistic which means it has no colour pigment in the body but still retains the black eyes, i was the first to breed them in the UK awhile back and don't think anyone here as done them yet.
if i can find some pics i'll put them up, or you can look on planet catfish there's quite a few pics of adults and young there.

Does these have the long fin variants? Because i have one that is similiar to yours just that its the long fin variant. If they are the same, here is a picture of the mouth.
