My planted tank temperature rise from 30 degress to 32 degress after I add another 36W lamp to the current 36W. Mine is a 2ft tank. The thought of DIY sounds troublesome, so is there any custom made cooling fans for aquarium water cooling. Chillers are out cause they are too expensive$$$$. If there is which lfs is selling and how much?

DIY is very very simple to do. Custom made ones simply come with a clip thats all. My advise, do it on your own. There are many ways to doing it. two sticks, tying it. Its just a little effort for something cheaper.

I've seen them at Nature Aquarium.

but the fans are damn noisy leh... if your house is very quiet like mine. []

I actually bought the fans from Nature, but after half a day I had to get rid of it. Luckily Chan was nice enough to let me trade it in for some Dennerle Gold 7 []

Is Nature the only place in Singapore to practice purchase-return policy?
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

I think DIY isn't that difficult.

I have just done up 1 set of 4X12v dc fan and working fine for me. I have the same setup with you (2ft tank, 2X36W PL....)

4 of my DC fans isn't noisy at all. AC fan is different...damn noise.

It help me to cut down the temp from 31 to 28 and only cost me less then $20.

    Hope it helps[]

No lah, a lot of shops are willing to allow return for credit or exchange, provided it has not been too many days, and return in good condition or still in package. They usually do not like to give refunds.

AC fan is much more powerful that DC. Mine 4ft tank is able to bring temp down to 25-26 'c.

Are your lights too close to the water surface? Or the hood is enclosed and thus trapping the heat?
In my 40L tank with 72W FL lights, I had the same problem too but after I raised the lights another 2 to 3 inch higher, it left gaps for ventilation. The water felt much cooler. Also because the tank is situated in a place with good air-flow.

Those off the shelve cooling fans are very expensive and noisy. I have DIY 2 DC fans setup myself and it's quite cost effective I would say. C328 also sells cooling fans beside Nature Aquarium

Plantbie..any pics to show how you manage to squeeze the four fans on top of the tank with the 2X36W lamp? Mine had not much space left after placing the lamps on top of the tank (Tank with no hood). Any kind souls care to show some pics of their brilliant DIY stuff []
