    Hi David,

I have moved your post here as I think it will be better discussed here. I believe Choy is using mineral bottles pack in his luggage to bring the fishes back. I will let Choy explain this himself.

Here is for reference a previous discussion with Choy's method of transportation. See post #12.

Do note that there is a restriction on the amount of fishes as stipulated by AVA.

oh yes. I used mineral water bottles.

you can use 500mg or 1.5litre version, just make sure the cap has several rounds of thread so it doesn not accidently work itself open. size of bottle depends on the size and number of fishes.

always fill a bottle only 1/3 to half full MAX. This is so that air in the bottle will diffuse into the water during the trip.

use bottles which are has a round cross-section. you lay your bottles in your luggage longtitudinally, so that whether your bag is standing up or lying down the bottles maintain the same orientation. and because of the round profile, water in the bottle will not slosh around too much as it rolls.

as a precaution, put the bottles into a larger plastic bag and tie up the opening. accidents can happen and even minor seepage can wet all your clothings.

tip: distribute out the fishes into as many bottles as you can. put sick or weak fish in their own bottles so that if they die they don't foul the water for the other fishes.

I have carried fishes this way for up to 24 hours with little or no loss. and this includes 9 hours of bouncing bus journey.

Had brought back a few fighting fish from Bangkok last time. Had used mineral water bottles and they were in it for around 12 hours from hotel check out time till reached home. Had carried them in hand carry but nowadays with the liquid scare/ban, not sure if still able to bring them onboard.

no problem. they specifically ask you to put your liquids and gels in your check-in anyway.

    Hi,
I tried to bring in 2 fighting fish from Bangkok previously. I put them in plastic water bottles with only one third full of water. Then I put them in my check-in luggage.

But both died shortly after arriving S'pore. Does anyone have this experience? Or did I do something wrong? Or is the journey too rough ... may be the luggage was being thrown around & the fighting fish can't withstand such rough handling?

    Please advice.

They pack fishes in plastic bags and placed them into styrofoam box.
