    for such a small tank it's not advisable to have too many types of plants.

    if you want a natural wild look, here's what i suggest.

    1. remove all the plants to start afresh
    2. plant the rotala wallichii as background plant. dump the other plants
    3. get a small branchy bogwood and place it as a focal point, tie moss if you like.
    4. plant a couple of blyxa japonica at the back corners.
    5. plant e. tennellus as foreground.
    6. get a couple of small driftwood with java ferns tied to it and place around the bogwood like a border.

    that's it.

    with such short depth, a rock scape with moss or HC would be much easier

    background = blyxa japonica
    midground = rocks , e tennellus
    foreground = moss tied to wire mesh or HC
    Cheers,
    Melvin Lim

    Thank you Melvin. Good idea. Will start to gather guts to do just that. Will update you once that rock scape is set up.

    Suggest use dwarf hairgrass-Eleocharis parvula for foreground.
    Go for moss mid ground. Spiky moss is nice. Tie on the driftwood that mordrake suggested.
    Bg - your choice of stem plants. Easy one would be Rotala species.
