Hi all, need some advice from the experts.
After lots of trying, my cherry shrimp tank is now stablised & baby shrimps are swimming all over my tank. very happy
it is close to 5months since i have set up my tank... i would like to clean the bottom of the tank but i am worried abt disturbing my shrimps & killing them after the cleaning....
please kindly advise me how i should clean the bottom of the tank (sand based).

Hi Bear, Hopefully your tank is well planted with floating,rooted, stemed or moss. if you are getting a good reproduction rate I suggest leaving it be. A regular schedule of water changes should take care of excess nutrients along with a viable bio-filter.
rugie, thanks for ur advice... i only had java moss in my tank..... guess i will just leave it then... i will stick to my usual routine of changing 10 to 20% of the water every week
Hey bear how are you? I've been cleaning the sand in my cherry shrimp tank using a turkey baster. I either just use the baster to manually suck up the waste or I will stir the sand by shooting water out from the baster and the waste starts floating around and gets sucked by the filter intake. I covered my filter intake with a panty hose. After this I will just rinse and wash the foam in the filter.
Right now I have a female cherry that has eggs in on her swimmerettes...it started on March 10th. Anyway do you have any pics of the tiny shrimp?
i do not any pic of my baby shrimps... they are too tiny.... they just look like their parents......

I love that turkey baster! its really useful...you can use it to start the water suction on your regular gravel cleaner so you dont have to suck the water manually by mouth like some would do...been there done that. Yuck!
The baster lets you control where you wanna clean...it does take more time but I like it much better than a continuous flow of water into a bucket....that way I can check to make sure I dont suck in any shrimp...the rubber part gets worn out over time so get a silicone type bulb if possible.
