If you want to breed them, it is better for a bare tank to facilitate maintenance.

However fast growing and hardy plants that can thrive in non-acidic conditions such as hydrophila, vals and water sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides) are suitable plants. I find java moss will do too. But the use of gravel might cause 'rotting' disease- fin-rot, body-rot... if it is not properly maintained.

Try to keep the pH between 6.5 to 7.5... Below 6.5, the occurrence of tail-burn is quite high.

What kind of guppies do you plan to breed?

actually for guppies more like how to prevent them from breeding []
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

regarding about plants, you can go to any fish shop. But you need to know the requirements of plants first or else, you would end up messing up your tanks. And another important thingy for guppy-keeping is coral chips... helps to maintain the pH.

Sometimes the fry get eaten. how about using a rigid plastic mesh with larger spacings/?holes? and place horizontally in the middle of the tank. so the fry fall through the mesh and you can get lots of them.

    Hi Guppy Chris,

I saw at Seng's bros yesterday that somehow, they have cross breed (I think) leopard-skin guppy and double-sword guppy leh.

Guess how does the resulting guppies look like? Double-sword leopard guppies! There are some others species too!

    Heehee, I bought 2 only....
