Why does my anubias nanas shrink? shrink as in the leaves begin to become smaller. this usually happens in new leaves.
also, i'll be setting up a planted tank in my 5g tank i have nanas inside and want to know what other plants would be a good choice.

1)Amount of light you are using? watts/gallon
    2)CO2 injection?
    3)Base substrate?

If all of the above are done properly and you see new plants sprouting out, the chances are high that your plants are shedding their old leaves while adjusting to the new conditions.

Remember correct amount of light and CO2 injection are vital factors to getting a good start in planted tanks..some of my experience...actually nothing compare to those experts around []

No plants does not need CO2.. it is only the little demand that they need..if you want them to grow well and fast CO2 and strong light may not be bad for them from the info i gain from an aquarist. Try it and see for yourself..DIY CO2 is cheap..Lights try adding more power..if not your plants will be slow growing and not as good looking as those of high light and CO2 plants. Happy planting!

Most of us don't bother buying the expensive, made for aquarium light tubes. We just stick to cheap common household ones. For planted tanks, just make sure that its 6,500 Kelvins.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Try searching around in http://fins.actwin.com/aquatic-plants/ and rec.aquaria.freshwater.plants.

I've been researching for my own Anubias and it seems that they grow well with iron, nitrates and compete better in shade.
