Hope you take good care of them given the price you splurge out for them.

    Hey riltz,

Thank you for the compliment . Yea this male is one of the two thats left in Biotope..They are doing well in the tank now, but I think the male is spoilt for choice..there are 2 females trying to get his attention but he doesnt even budge >.<~! but keeps chasing them away from his "krib".

You mean you bought 2 females A. Bitaeniata "Paracuuba" Super Red Fin. No wonder there isn't any female left.

But good potential pair you have there.

Hi.. haha ya i bought 2 females and the more agressive male. The other male looks better in terms of color, but he is has a quieter personality. Were you looking to get a pair from paracuuba yourself?

Good colors on this pair. Even the female seems to have colored up. Hopefully they spawn for you. What else is in this tank?

    Cheers,

Thanx benny.. besides the trio in the tank, I have 2 zebra otos, a few "koi" female swordtails.. and some white cloud mountains. Its only a 2 ft tank, and i think i would like to concentrate on this trio only.

True the F1 female (in the pic) is starting to color up, the wild female is..what can i say.. "ready" already.. but the male isn't budging. Lets see what happens in the next few weeks, hopefully the male will end up spawning with one of them..*crosses finger*

I have the imperssion that the swordtails can be rather active and will explore all corners of the tank. If you want to consider breeding your dwarf cichlid, then you may want to take the swordtails out.

That is quite true, recently the wild female has been chasing whoever (usually are the swordtails) that comes close to her "territory" even the F1 female is being pushed out. Do you reckon I should remove the swordtails out now? The reason i got them was because I thought they were top level dwellers. Thank you for the pointer though benny.

    Cheers.

Nice apistos!!! Congrats on your buy hanz!

I would suggest you remove all dither fishes if you intend to breed them. Forget about trying out top, mid, bottom or whatever level dither fishes you can think of. I have tried many types of dither fishes and all of them will start to hunt down your fries when they are free swimming.

    There are lots of tricks to ensure a healthy breeding environment where you can maximise the survival of your apsitos and fries. Below are some examples;

    1) Remove male and dithers once fries are free swimming
    2) Remove fries

    Hope this helps!

    Hey Eugene

Is it necessary to remove the male when the fries are free swimming? can we leave it together with female and the fries?

Of course you may. But there are risk of the male eating the fries. I have seen my males pick the fries from the gravel, sometimes they spit out, sometimes they don't.

The parent of the F1 pair, the father especially has is a "red morph", however this male that i've got hasnt had that much of red, maybe it is still young and it might be darker as he ages. But no doubt, the father is "super red" as the name implies.
