I think hor the green thing is for controlling the number of bubbles coming out and the control valve i think is doing the same thing.

Errr.... actually, not a good idea to control a DIY CO2 set. If the CO2 cannot escape in time, the pressure buildup in the bottle could cause it to explode and plaster your room with sour smelling icky stuff. If you're lucky, the pipes will just pop out at the joints. Similarly, don't try to turn off the DIY CO2 at night.

Control the rate of DIY CO2 by adjusting the amount of yeast you add.

DIY C02 can oso be controlled.. but require more attention.. as you have to check the air-flow more regularly....and adjust the valve as needed.

the metal valve is only for inital stage where you are mixing and shaking the bottle.. so you close the valve and then slowly open when you fixed up to your tank...[]

Acidfish, don't understand how you can control the flow from DIY. In any case, I've never gotten more than a few bubble per second out of DIY, never enough.

That's why I said better not to control it. [] If you want your DIY CO2 to last longer, try multiple bottles but less yeast in each bottle. I.e. increase the total amount sugar solution, but keep the total amount of yeast the same.
