    hi all bros,

I got a 3 ft tank along a wall, a 2 ft tank on the other side of the wall and planning to set up another 2 ft tank along the same wall.

Will the floor be able to support theorectically 7ft tank with its water? Meaning, can I have separate 2 X 2 ft tank and a 1 3 ft tank along the same wall?

i live in hdb building, 8th floor in tampines....

Well.. the wall should not be an issue if it's not a wall mounted tank. The floor is more of a concern.

Actually, you need to give more details. Are you staying in HDB? Is it ground floor? If not, is it a new or old estate (or is it a pre-fab structure)?

If it's HDB, they may not approve certain sizes.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Hi Benny,

I don't think they are wall mounted tanks. I think shermans mentioned against the wall to highlight that the tanks are (probably) resting on a beam.

    Hi Shermans,

Perhaps the first step would be to check for sure that the tanks are indeed resting upon a ceiling beam (of your downstairs neighbour). You can do this by looking at your own wall, chances are, your walls are prefabricated and there will be a line where the wall meets the ceiling beam, they will sound different when you knock against them. The beam will be more solid. I don't think there's cause for cocern if your tanks are resting near a beam or a pillar, but that's just me.

I have see, people living in HDB with 2 tier 5x2x2 with no problems.
I also have a 5x2x2.5 tank actly as a separator between my dining room and living room, meaning to say only 2 of the tank's legs are resting on a ceiling beam, but for added peace of mind and better distribution of weight, I had requested for the stand to be 6 legged instead of the usual 4.

I visited a discus lover place, he had 4 x 3-tier 3 feet tanks against one of the wall of his flat for about 20 years already, no problems.

Placing tanks against a wall is good practice, personally, I don't think there's cause for concern. But, if you want to be very sure, take a look at the link provided by Quixotic above and get a permit from HDB. Getting views from other hobbyists here would mean nothing.

woohoo... thanks bro benny and quixotic and bossteck .. you understood what i meant.

Anyway, the HDB guidelines said that you could have max 600kg per room without needing application. so its like, my 2 X 2 ft tanks are in my room while my dad's 3 ft tank is in the hall.. along the same wall.... :-)

    Hi,

You do know that when you have the tanks back to back separated by a wall, in essence, they are still resting on the same support beam right?

yup.... but a 2 2ft tank = 1 4 ft tank = 300kg which is in my room... the other 3 ft tank is outside approximately 220 kg... total is 520 kg which is less than 600kg per room as stated by HDB ... further more is 300 kg in my room and 220 kg in the halll... so i count this way is it corrext??!

Your calculation seemed fine. Personally I feel there's no problem. It will hold easily.
