Sorry folks but i know that this is a stupid question but may i ask if it is posssible to filter two 2 ft tanks by using only one canister filter?

Please pardon me for my stupidity!

    Cheers!!

Don't think it is possible since you can't control the final distribution of the water into the tanks. One tank might overflow if too much water is distributed to it from the other tank.

Not sure if you understand what I am saying.

possible, use PVC pipe to create over flow system at top tank. This way you don't care about the water distribution. Put the filter inflow at bottom and out flow at the top and ta.. da.. you use 1 filter for 2 tank

tank must be top and bottom

what if both tank are at the same level?

hm... same level is even easier you just connect both tank with water filled overhead PVC pipe. You can also drill hole and connect both tank

Same level is possible ONLY IF you have a central water catchment area, ie a 3rd tank. The filter should take in water from a 3rd tank. If the canister filter is being setup to suck in water from 2 tank at the same time, 1 of the inlet will take in more water than the other. You would spend more time constantly adjusting the flow rate. The 2 tank must have an overflow to a 3rd tank and from there, the canister filter will take in the water to filter out all the gunk and distribute the filtered water back to the 2 tanks simultaneously. The overflow in each tank will keep the water level constant in both tank. You will only notice the volume of water getting lesser due to evaporation only in the 3rd tank.

    Hope this helps!

BFG seems right... imo... do u have same lv tank? i assume is same? maybe u could have an overhead filter connecting the 2 tank... problem is.. this filter flow rate should be same as the cannister's....unless one of the tank is to have a lower water lv....

I was thinking if you have big enough pipe to conect both tank, shouldn't the water on tank always at the same level? Thus you can suck at 1st tank and out at the 2nd tank.

The red pipe... How does water traverse across the red pipe?

It possible if one tank is place higher than the other. The higher one had a special drop off slope to allow water to flow to the lower tank.

Automatically, filter will such water from tank 1 to tank 2, tank 1 water level drop, water level at tank 2 will be higher thus higher pressure and water automatically flow from tank 2 to tank 1. However make sure that the pipe is filled with water, otherwise it won't work

and dead fish in one tank

anyway, very unlikely to fail. It will fail if somehow air get it way in to the pipe. You can add safety shutdown if the 1st tank water level below certain point or 2nd tank water later raise over certain point.
