You can seachem excel to get rid of BBA, but reduce your CO2 intake before doing so.

That sounds cryptic. Reduce CO2 intake?

hmmm i nv dose the excel direct to tank, cos i find that in that way i would be endangering the whole tank (its faunas in particular), thus i took the plants out and seperate dose them instead

I does Excel direct with a fairly high fauna load, did not notice any impact to them.

A friend of mine had this argument with me. He said only wash filter once in 6 months. The dirtier it is, the cleaner and clearer the water is. Also, beneficial bacteria will not be able to grow if filter is cleaned so often. What do you think?

Bro Jeff, what your friend saying is correct. my canister filter since last year july till now still haven wash yet. unless the flowrate is getting slower, or else i will not wash the filter.

And people wonder why they get BBA, BGA ha.
And then the CO2 must be 30-40ppm and still get BBA?
Sure the water will be clear for 6 months then suddenly the system crash and then...

When you clean your filter, it doesn't mean to make it super clean. It's just take everything out and put it in aged/aquarium water and pat it a little to rid of the mulm and plant debris. Add back in some bacter 100 or other good stuff then plug it back in. Cloudy for a day and super clear for a lot longer with little or no BBA problems.

It is my guess that the two tanks we saw at the LFS hd not have their filters touched for a long time. They look exactly like the one at a local KL lfs. Everything's a little murky, the mosses have lots of black bits that slowly turns into BBA.

Even when i did not change the water for 8 months, I cleaned my filter every one two months and put a small pack of Activated carbon to absorb the tea colour. The tank looked quite ok and did make me richer by USD200.

No need to argue, results are better. Technique in cleaning is also very important.

hi guys, just wanna ask something.

As long as the moss is lush type of green , slightly bright green, it should be still alive right ? usually dead moss will turn yellowish/brownish, am i right to say that ?

cos after a few days, the moss still not registering the kind of growth it once had, maybe cos its been 2-3 days only, I will keep a look out! in the mean time hope you guys can help me double confirm the statement above.

Are the tips light coloured? That's the new growth. Spiky is easy to grow. Give it a little pat when you do a WC.

Moss not so easy to kill.
It will bounce back when you keep it in cool water and sufficient nutrients. Just be patient.

If you get another fan, the most it can bring the temperature down by 1 or lesser, but you will get your tank water evaporates even more faster.
