Connecting chiller to external canister filters

I read up some manual of artica and resun chiller manual and it never show connected to a external filter like a canister filter, is it ok to connect it to a canister filter instead of sump tank via a pump?

tank -> canister filter -> chiller -> tank = OK?

any UV Sterilizer light or CO2 reactor should be connected after the chiller as well
