THese are Moss found Emerged in damp area
I went to my cousin House yesterday, located in NY

for some reason only moss grows in their backyard i guess its very damp very there

first one i found was on red bricks, and some on soil
    looks transparent, looks like flowers

next is a moss im fond of , it looks so nice i found it on soil attached to a wood looks like a aquatic moss

this is moss found Around the Red bricks, these were everywhere, on the bricks surroundin the land from soil looks like anchor moss?

last one, these was All over the yard, it was like carpet for Human feet

these were all over the land part, some had flowering buds
Looks kinda nice, so scraped some up looks like some fissden** they are like in one peice , and one peice

    thanks guys [/img]

THese are currently growing in little 3Oz cups seeing if it would go immerged in water, without dying

so far i think the 2 mosses and the 3 moss would make it

You're in the right place but to have your mosses identified, you have to send some samples over. I'll take your mosses to the professor and ask him to examine them. In order for the professor to make a positive identification, he needs to know where the moss was found I'm afraid "my cousin's house in NY" isn't good enough. Please tell us which state and which country. Please do not assume everyone understands what the letters NY stands for. I don't.

Let me know if you want to send the mosses over and I'll let you have my mailing address.

Nice mosses By the way, I would prefer to address you by your real name. Frozenbarb sounds so odd.

Danny, there's no need for priority mail. If you pack them properly, the moss should have no problems surviving the journey from USA to Singapore.
In any case, if it's purely for identification purposes, there's no need for the moss to be alive. Dead moss would serve the purpose just as well. However, I would very much prefer to receive live moss for the simple reason that if it's a beautiful moss, there's a chance I can grow it in my tanks

I would send it priority, For me to send a LOAD of moss it was only like $8.1- I think, and I'm in RI

As pour your moss The second picture is most likely stringy moss, a beautiful moss. those others are most likely non aquatic.

If you look at Moss and the men who love them X the mosses I found outside I sent because at the time I was a newbie... There you should probably be able to ID the others, but most likely the others aren't aquatic.

    Good luck with collecting!

    -Andrew

PS, if you want to get them IDed with a fair chance of me being correct just PM me. I won't be able to give you 100% ID but I know most of our local (NE) mosses aquatic or not. I'm also probably going to be sending Loh another package of moss by June so I could include it in that.

Stringy is native to Norther hemisphere of USA and Europe so it's more than likely that it is. Grow it out a little bit. IF you grow it out and are still not sure send me a sprig or two, I can tell right away

RI has lots of ponds and beaches, but I tend to go to Massachusetts to go to the beach since my family has a beach house there(much nicer than any RI public beach!)

I also wouldn't advise to digging up mosses not a good idea... If you want to find some good stuff just go to a gold course and look in the little creaks and drainage ditches and ponds and stuff, lots of good things there!

Good luck with collecting your moss!

I wouldn't be so sure There's a lot of mosses which are very similar to A. riparium.

    You would be surprised.

But this was the first moss I've ever collected so I have some confidence that I could. If I wasn't sure I could compare it to samples of mine, and if I really wasn't sure I could try the microscope but my cheap ones stink...
