The process is called ecdysis and is related to the growth of the animal.

    From wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecdysis

Not sure about their growth rate, but my guess is that, the growth of your shrimp isn't that great at 5 weeks to start the moulting process. Just a conjecture on my part. If there isn't any visible signs of being unhealthy, I am very sure it will moult in the future.

Let's see what those who have kept this shrimp before say about their growth and frequency of moulting.

If I use my larger wood shrimp as a reference, it would be about once every 3 to 4 months. This aren't exactly fast grown creatures, especially after they've reached maturity.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

My largest wood shrimps which is roughly the size of a small armoured shrimp took about 4 months to molt. However, i usually dread molting as deaths often occurs during or shortly after the molting process for various reasons.

Thanks guys. i will be pumping them up for molting. I suspect one of them had one of the fans injured. Hope to see it recover after molting.
