Just want to check with you if you know the reason for the fading of the white band for some CRS?

Is it because of stress, water temp or nitrate level?

Not an expert in this field but i believe everything plays a part. The more critical parameters are temp and quality of the crs. Low water temp will somehow intensify the colours. If you can provide these crs that mimics their natural environment they will look good. But mostly it depends on the quality. Some say that if you've got very good crs whose parentage are of very thick white, then these genes will be in the crs. and for these crs, even if the temperature is high, the white will not run. From personal experience, sometimes I did not perform water change for more than 2 months. The quality of my crs still looks the same. But after water change, their whiteness was further enhance. So everything plays apart.

    Hi,

Apart from temperature & water change, I heard from my colleague that lighting is also important. I do noticed that those CRS breed with plant lighting, their white looks more intact and thick, while other CRS breed without lighting tends to fade away.

From what I know, water parameter and genes plays the most important role for the colouration in CRS.
Therefore you have to have the right water condition to keep CRS, and also to breed them.

Water clarity very importance, if you don't have a good filteration, Once Crs change shell, it soft body will be hurt for bad water....

With good, healthy and clarity water condition. They do recovered the white but not in 100%... This is my personally experience only, may be some other friend will have different.

Loss of white could be due to change of water parameters. But no worries the white will intensify back, provided it used to be white, if the adapted water parameters of your CRS are realised.

Ya I personally believe that too for white it will come back when water parameter is good. Bought some CRS from LFS with most of the white very few but after a month it got more white completely covered it strip. Very surprising indeed.

water condition seems to be the cause. Sometime stress also will cause color loss.

The better grade CRs will recover the white.
