Good friday is a public holiday in Sarawak. Before going to church in the afternoon, I spent few hours to climb a small limestone hill near my hometown. There are a few species of wild orchids at the summit of this small limestone hill which is less than 1,000 feet. It's not the flowering season for orchid yet, except a species of Dendrobium which has pinkish coloured flower.

The limestone forest at the summit area.

    The jungle.

Bulbophyllum sp. This species is found abundantly in the summit area. It's either growing on the limestone cliff or on the tree.

Jewel orchid. it's VERY RARE in this area....i think is over collected by locals as the hill is too near the human settlement. It's very common terrestrial orchid in other limestone hills.

Unidentified species of snail (less than 1cm across) on the leaf of jewel orchid.

    Cymbidium sp. (?)

is your flash fitted with some softbox or diffusor? I see very little hot spotting.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

I use "build-in" flash light. If it's too dark,I'll light it up using the photoshop.
