    What type of fish is this?

    Hi,

    This fish looks very much like a swordfish except it is a fresh water fish. Size is about 2-3cm long and very thin. They always swim on the top never dive more than 1 cm below. Are they live bearer?

    halfbeak? They are livebearers. local fish.

    There are many species od halfbeaks, and DEA is correct, they are mostly Brackish water, though can tolerate freshwater.
    They are probably half beaks...


    That is a halfbeak, sorry about the photo size..is all i could find on the net..

    The freshwater species are about 10cm max out.... Saltwater ones can grow to about 25 to 30cm....

    another possibility is the "freshwater needlefish" which is brackish
