hi can anybody help with setting up a cyclo 500.... i have it attached to the output of my Eheim 2215 external filter... with most of the flow heading back into the tank and a small part of the flow going it to the reactor...but after a while(approx 4-5 hours) my fish seem to be breathing faster than normal....

am i right in thinking that the cyclo 500 replaces the spray bar from the filter...

i have set the buble count to about 6 per min. as that is about the lowest i can get from the regulator....i have the DENNERLE PROF 2000 system

what should the bubble rate be...

    i have a 300L tank

Make sure you have some surface rippling of the water (not too much and not too little. Yes, you would lose a bit of CO2 but you can always add a tad more to make up for it. Definitely better than losing fish due to poor O2 issues.).

I have a lot of experience with all sorts of reactors and can tell you it's an O2 issue why your fishes are gasping. The only way O2 is being added to the water column is via gas exchange at the surface of the water and plant production. Plant production only does that for the day and can sometimes slow down due to us not giving what the plants need at all times.

I have both the Dennerle Cyclo 500 and 5000 as well as the Dennerle Profi 2000 system. It can be used in place of the spray bar.

I believe your bubble rate is wrong. 6 bubbles a minute should be no problem at all.

As Peter has correctly pointed out, your fishes are gasping due to O2 problem. By pointing the nozzle of your reactor towards the surface to cause a bit of rippling, it will make your fish more comfortable.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    hi thanks for that...

What is the top nanometer for... mine is set at about 60 and does not move from there no mater what my bubble count is...my German isn’t that good.....

Also how do you shut of the system at night as i believe no co2 is needed then….the only way I can shut of the co2 is to use the bubble counter to turn it of … but this requires a tedious bubble count reset the next day….

i tested my water and it with the formula supplied i need a bubble count of about 40 per min... does this sound right...as i have heard that other systems only reqiure about 4 per min.

    cheers...
    thanks for the advice....
