Hamster toy to be placed in shrimp tank

hi, i am trying to setup a small ( but slightly bigger then my present one) shrimp tank, size 20inx6.3inx7.6''. The width and height is a mere 16cm by 19cm only..you guys think is adequate for about 100pcs of cherry shrimps with a small hang on filter.

I saw there are many cute and interesting plastic hamster toy eg broken barrel, cave etc selling. Can i use this in the tank, afterall they are inert to water, right ? or are they not?

Any advice is deeply appreciated.

I don't advice you putting those stuff as you won't know what kinda plastic material they are made from, some chemical leech out over time and react with the water. Unless the plastic material is PP (polyproprene) which is known for very good chemical resistance.

I'm sure the shrimps would prefer a nice chunk of moss covered driftwood. I've also seen some aquarist using blocks of wood with holes drilled in them. If you've got a drill, a piece of wood and a couple of hours, why not?

Agreed, use Drift wood covered by moss, they love moss and will start breed

by the way i brought some nice coral rocks too, but coral rock originate from marine water, so i wonder whether it will affect the water parameter of my small tank ?

o yeah it will, assuming you was the salt completly, it will still increase the water pH

Coral rock will increase the pH of water. Increase pH of water = alkaline water.

If your shrimps require acidic water, this would not be suitable, would it?
