yes for sure it is a characin, it has the adipose fin, and it does look like a Characidium. technically characidium is not in the "tetra" group I think, but I have to check Géry. but then its just a common name, no big deal.

Was surfing and came across this, is this really a tetra? Uncle choy, Ranma care to explain furthur...http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_characidium.php

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Yes... i've been looking out for the Characidium sp. since i got back from Canada.. that is about 3 years aleady and the only time i saw one was when Ben was located next to KS...in his show tank.. a few weeks later.. it was gone....
Choy.. Characidium sp. is common name meh? whats the scientific name then?

Tetra is a layman term for fishes from the Characidae family. Characidium spp. belongs to the Characidae family. So to the layman, they are tetras.

Huh? Common name is not darter tetra meh?
I think Choy means to say that "tetra" is a common name used for these kind of fishes..
I misunderstood and thought he was mentioning that Characidium is a common name... i thought that was damn weird.
Yes, commonly known as darter tetras....
Have you seen them behave in the aquarium?? OMG.... i sooooooooooo love them.

there was a few Characidium on and off, especially from Choon Sua.
