Hi, need advise from friends here.
I was given some used gravel that already mix with fert. from a friend in this forum.
The qty enough to cover my 2.5 tank about 2 -3 inch. Do I still need to top up the base with 1 inch of clean gravel. If I really need to then it will be quite hard to buy as all lfs sell this in bag of 22kg, is too many for me.
Is it ok for me have only 1/2inch to 2 in base and wash the balance used gravel and use it as the 1" top.
Hope you people can understand my question and give me some advise.
    Sorry about that and thanks.

You'd better have a thicker layer. Otherwise, you are likely to have perpetual cloudy water.

    Thanks for your quick reply.
Thicker layer of top gravel? How thick should I have? If base already has 2 - 3 in. plus the top gravel of lets say 2 in. it become 4 - 5 in. so my tank only can fill water at 10" height after the base and gravel?
    Thank you.

some LFS like GenX sells gravel by the kg, for small amount just nice.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Other LFS I've seen with smaller bags of gravel: Gan, Petmart, Nature.

1 inch of clean gravel should be ok, imo.

Is 1/2"(front) to 2"(back) base fert. too less?

Can any one tell me how many kg of gravel needed to cover up the 30" x 15" tank with 1" height.
    Thank you.

Depends on your choice of plants. I recommend 1 infront slope to 2 or 3 at the back.
