May be neon disease but look through the entire thread.

I have 20 neon tetras+5 guppies+2 albino cory in a 3 foot tank...they were fine for the past few months until today...1 of the neon tetras decided to go cranky...
That neon swims in a inverted manner, and seems to have trouble balancing itself. No white spots found. After 2 days of blue solution + aquarium salt treatment in isolation, it is still alive, but it seems that it's feeling horrible, as it swims with it's body rotating. Wonder what kind of disease it has contracted and how can I help it?.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Eriol,
A picture would help tremendously here or a more detailed description. If the affected fish already developed distorted body shape, my advise is to carry out 'mercy killing' on the poor fella and save the entire school from furthur infestation.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

That neon is quite normal, no particular symptoms or body distortion except for the inability to balance itself. It has been undergoing aquasalt + blue solution treatment for the part 1 week, and it is still alive, just that it is unable to balance. Is it safe to put it back into the main tank, it seems lonely alone in the hospital tank.![]()

Hi Eriol,
It would be a bad move to shift the fish back now as it is under alot of stress now and may breakout with another secondary infection which will then infect the whole school. You can stop with the salt and blue medication, this I know, its definitely not ICH. unbalance is due to probably bladder problems or internal bacteria. Both hard to cure in a small fish like the NEon tetra, and err...does not make very good economy sense if you know what I mean. If you are adamant, you can try using Befuran( yellow packing ) be careful of dosage though as it is in powder form, aerate strongly and upkeep water quality throughout the treatment process. Good luck.
PS: It is difficult because small fish are extremely fragile, easily affected by volatile water conditions and inaccurate medication dosage.

Maybe it could be having swim bladder problems. Watch for a few more days and see what happens.
Recently, I got a neon tetra that started "hopping", i.e. swimming is a jerky motion as it if was hopping inside the water. At first, I thought it was going to meet its Creator soon, but it's still alive after 6 months. The hopping/jerky movements have since significantly reduced.
