Maybe they needed fresh air? Wondering if it could be a case where it's due to insufficient DO in the water causing such behaviours?
Notice something perculiar in my office shrimp tank.... It appears that the shrimps (CRS and Cherrys) like to climb up the pipe of the OHF out of the water.... found some dried up ones behind the tank under the OHF too...
anyone know why they do this?
The water condition appears stable, shrimps are breeding... with many CRS shrimplets

Being an office tank, i try to minimise the equipment... so i wun do so unless its necessary...
no one else experienced something similar? Maybe I will bring in my camera to see if i can get pictures...
It is almost certain some shrimps are not comfortable with your tank conditions if they are trying to escape from the tank.
How many shrimps are there in the tank? What is the size of the tank? Is it a planted tank? What plants? Are the plants growing well? What kind of filter are you using? How often do you perform water changes?
Do the pH/ammonia/nitrite/nitrate tests to see if anything can be concluded from there.
i'll go measure the tank... if u you are familiar with ocean free nano tanks, its about erm the 3rd smallest size...
Its very heavily planted with mosses, the willow, flame and stringy... quite a mess really... running a smaill ohf and small clip on PL light...
setup is for about a year already, i only top up water...
I feed sparingly to minimise waste... about once ever 3 days
hundreds of those transparant shrimps that will cross breed with cherrys and CRS...

Having a heavily planted tank certainly helps, but if you say that it is a nano tank, it is smaller or equivalent to a 1 feet cube.
Assuming that I am reading correctly, there are hundreds of shrimps in there? Overly overly crowded if you asked me, even if it is a heavily planted tank.
Ah... they breed... and breed and breed... I have the whole floor covered with CRS babies... also there are green shrimps breeding... been bringing the larger green shrimp home to populate my other tanks at home... but still i reckon there are hundreds of CRS in them...
I'm installing a smaller tank next to it... will transfer some over once its stable
Yeah, it would be good to have another tank or a bigger one. Being a nano tank, a small change in water condition is a large effect especially on a large population. If it is a larger tank, there is more water to buffer that effect.
