After many hours of reading up and setting up, my 1st 3ft tank is ready for show... still I feel that there are many areas for improvement ...

Initial setup was in March 07. I started with a 1ft tank and upgraded to a 3ft tank in less than 2 week. Work involved with a 3ft was many times more than a 1ft.. spend many hours and trips to LFS to buy all the neccessary accessories for the 3ft.

I have attached the photos in chronological order so that you can see the gradual transformation as the plants start to set roots. I still get a yellowish tint in my water despite doing the 30% WC every week. Last week , when I did a minor scape, I stirred up the ADA soil. As a result, all my yamato and cherries "peng san" So sad! Learnt my lesson not to stir too much the ADA soil.

I will post my tank profile later . Please feel free to comment !

Yup, great work for a starter. My 2 cents, the scape lacking some hardscape. If Dutch style, then another story. Some rocks or wood would be nice, the moss or riccia at the right, in front of the Totina belem looks err..a little out of place. All in all, a very commendable effort.

The riccia on the right side is grown on SS mesh. I was experimenting with riccia to see its characteristics. Yes agreed, its out of place. The Tiger Lotus also does not blend in.. but I love this plant ! No Hardscape except 2 pcs of DW, covered by Java and Taiwan Moss.

Thks for the encouragement! Ken But still lots of works to be done , for eg. the moss wall is still so bare, background still not dense, foreground glosso still have patches.. water is still yellowish, though clear.

    Impressive, should enter ADA 2007!

Personally would prefer taking the guppies out!

Thanks for the encouragement!! I started rescaping again,, trimmed my tiger lotus, removed my riccia, started planting more glosso on the right side in place of the riccia.
