What are pods? Does anyone have a picture of them or know where I can get them?

as for photos... they're daphnia sized
Also, if you wanna give breeding them a shot i could always just pass you a few. 2 become 20 in a few days. All you need is a 1ft tank, a shell(calcium) and a protein source. In my case it's usually dropped food.

Yup. I like to think of them as swimming calcium tablets
Do they harm fish fry? no.. In fact usually leave newly hatched fry in the pod tank to grow out(they eat baby pods) before i transfer them to the comm tank. And they grow REEEALLY fast on well fed pods. They will however, eat the eggs of fish and snails.
May i know where you get the pods?
is it difficult to cultivate them?
"shell(calcium)" mean they grow in alkaline water?

As explained earlier you'll need:
1) 1ft tank or something of similar size
2) 2 or more adult pods and some snails(snails to break up larger food bits)
3) A shell or coral chip(calcium source)
4) Fish food, dropped human food, cat food when i'm lazy(protein source)
5) toss in a few strands of moss or a potted crypt to remove the nitrates
After a week you should see lots of the little buggers swimming around. Remember, no floating plants or it'll be hell spotting them. As for harvesting, drop sinking food, wait a few mins and they'll start congregating around it. I usually just suck them up with an eye dropper
I haven't had any success growing them in my comm tank, but there's no reason why they shouldn't establish themselves if the fish don't eat them.
Note: If you live in the west/central go ask Thio for some. He's got some pods in his shrimp tank. Though they're probably of a different species since they're #$$^!#@ing HUMUNGOUS! o <- about the size of that

Good new! some of them( 3 ) survived the 20 something fry swimming around the tank! The bad news is that it'll take a week for the population to max out again. So if anyone wants to collect them you'll have to wait till wednesday.

Nope, they're swimming around with my pregnant cherries and shrimplets as we speak.
but i must say they are really unsightly..i have them in my smaller shrimp tank...guess is due to over feeding. i am going to starve them 1 day LOL
