Hi, just bought CO2 test kit and wondering when is a good time to take measurements from the tank?

Will the CO2 level keep increasing throughout the 10 hours it's turned on? ..or will it stabilise after sometime? Me thinking of taking measurements towards the end of the 10 hours ... pls advise, thanks.

End of the 10 will give you the max level of CO2 in your tank, but you won't know when it reached that.

Try about 2 hours after starting CO2 and once at the end of 10 hours. See whats the diff. Please post your results too. []
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.

Chaq..did you test using the pH/KH to determine the level of CO2 as well? Which one is more accurate? Where did you get the test kit? (Provided you are a singaporean that is, don't want to travel to US or some other country just to buy a test kit [] ) How much did you pay for the test kit?

Im singaporean (leh) <- confirmed [] ... i think most lfs like nature, serangoon north or any with planted tanks should have this CO2 test kit .. no i did not test with ph/Kh .. they are sold separately.

Vinz or anyone else, is 10ml too much? whats the moral of the story []

Hi Chaq! 10ml/Litre is too little [] .. The moral of the story is using CO2 test kit is hard to aim for the optimal value that you need whereas using the pH/KH relationship graph, you can easily aim for the required pH after you get the KH value. [] .. Anyway...try to aim for the value of 15-20ppm. Or refer to the pH/KH table. http://www.dennerle.de/ENGLISCH/e_frameset.htm

Good luck pal! Happy plants happy happy []

This article Measuring CO2 levels in a Planted Tank has good explanations.

    1000 ml = l litre
    1 litre ~ 1 kg
    thus
    1 mg ~ 1g
    1000 mg = 1 g
    1 ppm = 1 mg per l
    sooooo
    1 ml/l = 1 g/l
    1 g/l = 1000 ppm

is something wrong with your units?

Note: CO2 test kits are not so accurate. They degrade when expose to atmosphere. As they degrade, they tends to give higher readings.

Wah, then my tank's CO2 is actually 6000 - 10000 ppm ... cannot be rite ... or my fish go up the lorry already ... must be the Aqumedia test kit problematic. Anyways, thanks guys for the info, will do another test using pH-KH-CO2 Relationship. Thanks
