Shrimps are sensitive, so care should be taking not to change the water parameter too drastically. Till now I dd not even meddle with the water parameter in my tank.

Hi to all...
I would like to share something I learn the hard way... Over the last three days, I lost the following in my 3ft Planted Tank
2 1/2 inch - Male Mountain Shrimp x 01no.
1 1/2 inch - Female Mountain Shrimp x 01no.
2 inch - Green Mountain Shrimp x 3nos.
Been scratching my brain what happen to them as they have been in my tank for about the past 1 month without any issue.
After speaking to the owner of Y618, finally realize what happened to them.
I’m been trying to keep my KH up from 2ppm to 5ppm and above. Being to anxious and too naïve… I brought “SARA KH UP” and went ahead to increase the KH by 2 degrees a day!
Got a KH of about 6ppm by the 3rd day, was very happy initially with the KH level. But my heart sank when my mountain shrimps start to die one by one…
So please… take a lesson from me… Should you keep shrimps… Increase your KH or change your water perimeters step by step or degree by degree…

Broke my heart well one by one my mountain shrimps died...
Some of those products are not shrimps compatible. I have heard horrible story on some products that kill shrimps, but fish is ok. So better ask around on which product is good for shrimps before using them.

Bro silane, got any product is best without hurting the shrimp especially CRS? from what i know seachem is okie for shrimp isit true? and what other product is needed and advice to use ? thanks for the information.

It's also sometimes how you dose the products that is the key. Even a product that is shrimp safe can potentially be lethal if overdosed.
It is not the ingredients of the products per se that may be dangerous, but a lot of products actually binds dissolved oxygen. This causes low oxygen content in the tank, and some shrimps cannot tolerate the low dissolved oxygen level.
With shrimps, dosage can be started low and increased slowly over a period of time until the desired level. Heavily planted tanks will also help. However, again, milage may vary.
By the way, what is this Green Mountain Shrimp? Aren't all mountain shrimps.. erm... mountain shrimps? Something different?Originally Posted by Stoner

Can't quite remember, but mine were probably around 5cm TL. They don't grow very big, much smaller than mountain shrimps.
I got 4nos from Y618. Only manage to net one out from my 3ft planted tank into my 1ft Shrimp tank. Save the fellow by a small margin...
My about 4-5cm long. The funny thing is that the shrimps colour is a little light greyish instead of blue...now

Mine died after a few hours only...
recently i purchased one bottle of ph down
after adding i noticed my mountain shrimps all rush to the top of the tank
like my fishes also
seems like lack of oxygen
luckily this calms down the next morning after the night.
so please becareful when adding ph up or down solution.

Someone just got his tank of hino and mosura CRS killed after adding algae killer recommended by a LFS.
