    Hi All,
    I am wonder which foods contribute to more NO3 and which contribute more to PO4?
    I found that with increased feeding of bloodworms, the NO3 increases.
    Does dry food like TetraBits contribute more to PO4?
    Thanks.

    KF,

    Read somewhere, Chuck Gadd, I think... about calculating phosphate from protein content. More protein -> more phosphate.
    Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
    Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
    A woman, without her man, is nothing.
    A woman: without her, man is nothing.

    BCLee is correct. Sorry, my bad. Its not Chuck either. It's roger miller. Managed to find the article here. PO4 is usually listed on processed food packaging.

    So am I right to say:

    Bloodworms ==> more NO3
    fish food ==> more PO4

    True?

    In my 2.5ft tank, I noticed I have been feeding more frozen BW in the last 2 weeks, and the NO3 raised from 5ppm to 20ppm. PO4 remains the same at 0.25ppm.

    If this is the case, then we can control the type of feeding to increase N or P. Interesting ...

    Appears to be the case... but I don't think more fish food necessary => more PO4. Depends on how much there is in the food.

    Quality fish food usually results in less NO3 as they are made to be more digestable, resulting in less fish waste, hence less ammonia, etc.

    Slightly off-topic... I wonder how much waste my newts produce as they supposedly have the most efficient digestive systems, digesting practically everything.

    Never seen newt sh*t... but surely they urinate, right?
