I have green looking Hornwort growing nicely in 2 tanks. I brought some to put in my office tank. They turned reddish in the next few days. And growth don't seem to be as fast, with some leaves shedding.

    Wonder why?

This office tank has a heater to maintain temp at about 28C.

I think it's a sign that fertilisation (esp Fe) is on the high side, resulting in overabsorption and possibly iron toxicity. It shouldn't be due to bright light, as hornwort growing in sunlight (at Teo's) is bright green.

    Thanks Marcus!
Will reduce fertilisation and see how.
What other plants will show this behaviour?

I am not sure about hornwort. I know that in some plant red color means N deficiency. Maybe you might want to check that out.

    KF,

Refer to nutrient dificiency chart at TheKrib. Other then N, could be Mg too.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:

    P deficiency? Could be ...

    4ft tank: green Hornwort, 10ppm NO3, 1ppm PO4
    1.5ft tank: green Hornwort, 20ppm NO3, 1ppm PO4
    2.5ft tank: red Hornwort, 5ppm~20ppm NO3, 0.25ppm PO4

I am trying to see if more PO4 can help in the 2.5ft. Last week I just tried upping PO4 to 0.75ppm.

bclee... the chart lists N. But under P, it says similar to N. So you're right both times. []
