Yes. I do that fairly frequently in the past.

Please post non cichlid specific discussion in Aquatalk. Thanks!

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Not talking about checking in the fish. How about using Courier service?

You are referring to just ask the shop to courier it to you? Or you choose already then courier it back?

If it is the former, I would say, not a very good option. When it comes to Apisto, it is safer to get someone who knows apistos to look at the fish and bring the fish back for you. Or take a look yourself if possible and bring them back.

Reason is that what is usually publicised are the good looking ones (or course for obvious reasons). There might also be internal diseases like sunken stomach or internal parasites in the fish that is sent over that the shop did not notice. If you go, you can observe the fish and make your choice to buy or not to buy.

Also, it is possible that the shop might send you a sneaker female or male thus, you lose the possibility of breeder them.

That's how I feel about buying from overseas without having someone I trust looking at the fish first. Too high price to pay sometimes.

It will be better to get someone who knows a thing or two about apistos to ensure quality and condition. Rather than just judging from photos.

Pictures usually don't tell the full story... Especially apistos. A non-red apisto in normal aquarium lighting will look red under photography lighting.

Other reasons already mentioned in my previous post.

Just curious, with the new restrictions on only able to carry onboard liquids in no more than 100ml bottles. Do you guys hit into any trouble bringing fishes back? I used to bring back some fighting fish from bangkok the last time I was there. Hand carried them all the way back as I am not sure if the cargohold becoming too cold at high attitudes.

No no Wackytpt, i didn't mean about how to pack back in luggage...already did search on that, i was wondering about the restrictions on liquids for handcarry...if possible i'd rather handcarry as it feels safer than letting the cargo staff throw my fish around...i see the unloading people throw the suitcases around very scary la...

Not really possible to handcarry with the new restrictions of a maximum of 100ml bottles and then need to place them in 1L bags.

So have to put them in cargo.
Fishes have been brought back recently with the new restrictions safely in cargo.
