    Hi all

do not know whether to post this one...

My PH as measured by my PH pen is 5.5 and KH is 2.5. By right, my fishes should have gone heaven, but they are still swimming happily...

Not sure whether my PH pen is accurate.. i checked with callibration liquid and it showed 7.0.. so I am not sure what is wrong...

Does anyone have a pen that I can borrow for a while to double check?

mmm. your pH should be alright. Both species can tolerate or prefer acidic waters.

It's actually over the optimum levels. High possibility of CO2 poisoning. But strange that your fishes are still happy.

My ph pen says 5.3 pH in my shrimp tank. Is that too low for shrimps tank? Wondering if the pen's not accurate. Another tank had 7.8 pH. Pen had been recalibrated with ph 4.0 buffer. So far no shrimp deaths.

not sure about pH pen cause don't have one. But i thought you should calibrate with ph4 and ph7 buffering solutions? cause that's what i did for my ph controller.

I guess ph pen not properly calibrated or batt might be weak.
Guess shrimps wouldnt have survived if waters was below pH 6.0
