Somewhere about a month to two months:

Start to introduce fish into the tank ... For the flora, HG starts to grow and the glosso gets thicker by now.

And about four to five months:

THis is what happen if you don't trim the HG often like every 2 to 3 weeks, the HG start to overun the glosso and eventually the glosso dies off slowly ...

    Hi,

Do you do water change very often without a filter in your nano tank?
I was planning to do something similar for my office desk however i was worried that the stagnant water would kill the cherries i was planning to keep.

    Please advise.

    Cheers!

Water change in this nano tank is very important. I did WC like 15% every week. However if you are planning to keep Cherry Shrimp or any other shrimp in the tank, doing water change like 5% twice a week is recommended. THat was what i did while i keep cherry in the tank. They are doing fine ...

NB: the initial setting up of the tank might be a little more need time and effort. Due to the small tank, dosing the tank with liquid fert and Liquid CO2 (excel) is going to be troublesome. What i did till now is that i take a bucket of new water and dose the water in the bucket with all the necessary stuff. The amount of water in the bucket is definetly more than 40% of the amount of water in the nano tank.
Just take the 5% water for the WC from the bucket. Don't use all of it for WC. The reason for doing it is to dilute the amount of fert and excel.

I hope i answer all you doubt

Very simple and nice aquascaping. Are your tank and light from Ikea? Cause I've similiar ones. mmm maybe can setup an identical one. Thanks for your write up.

You're Edwin, the guy from Biotope?

    Hi Leeruisheng,

Yes it is the halogen light from Ikea. But if you are going to use the light in SIngapore just becareful for the extreme heat from the light. My reason i'm using this light is due to the low temperature in a country where i am located now. So the main purpose of using this light is to warm up the water temp too.

However if you are going to put the tank in a constant air-conditioned room then it is advisable to use this light. just don't put it too close to the water surface.

Yes i used to work in Biotope, Have we meet before? pardon me caused i met a lot of ppl while working over there
Anyway i'm not the Biotope guy, the real Biotope guys is Mr Thio Eng Koon
Feel free to ask more doubt, I'll be happy to help as much as i can ...

    Edwin

Got the same lighting but it's yellowish. Ya initially tried to setup one but found the light a bit too overpowering and the heat emitted. Looks like I'll need to find another lighting.

Ya met with you a couple of times when you're introducing apistogrammas to me. And at that time I said to myself no way i'm going into apistogramming judging by their price tag. But now I'm hooked.

    Cheers,
    Wilson

    Hey Edwin,

Unfortunately, I have to take a hiatus from the hobby and tore down my tanks before heading over to the US. But I am sure to get back to the hobby in full force upon my return in 2008.
