The fans cool the water temperature via evaporation. The more you have, although it'll be cooler, but you'll lose more water. Every two days, you would need to top up the water... I gave up after some time and decided to get a chiller.

When my lights comes on, it heats up pretty fast (has a hood to prevent very good air flow). So I added FANs (comes in a row of 4).

It is working well to maintain the temperature at 28-29C (before I played with a TEM chiller), else mine will go above 30.

But I think, 1-2 would work just fine to control the temperature.
    Just my 2 cents worth.

It does not matter how many fans you install, it can only drop 2-3 degree from the room temperature (via evaporation).

Just get enough fans for your tank size.

never see the one with screw at LFS and I probably expensive. Thus not worth doing DIY with it. I did DIY because all the part is available at home for free and the glass devider thing is only $0.30.

However, if you don't those stuff (fans and power supply), you better buy the ready made from LFS, the price is about the same.
