Alright thanks. Looking good and looks quite red. Does it have a red streak mask? Was searching for their photos on web and saw that some of them were quite red. I don't mind if it's farm bred as long as quality is there.
Here's one of the two pairs brought in by Biotope that last time. The nicer pair was bought by another customer. I took the not so nice one.
By the way, it should be spelt as Dicrossus maculatus.
For those interested, give Thio (Biotope) a call.
He has the source. But note that they are farm bred. Wild can be abit hard to come by.

Yup. They have blue and red streak mask.
I try to shoot mine and show again.
That photo is the better one?
Looking forward to yours.

How big is the tank that you use to house this pair?
I am into Plecos now...
L46, L173, L134 & L236
~~Jeffrey~~
Only a 2ft tank. They are very shy.
Still not taking to pellets. Only BBS and brine shrimp. Kind of a headache for me. But they are very majestic looking. Much more beautiful and elegant than D.filamentosus.
what's the size of these beauty... ?
Male without counting the tail is about 2.5inches long.
Was sitting around the tank watching him. And he is nipping the fins of my angels.
Guess time to take the angels out.
Here's a picture of him. Not a very good picture.Struggling with some technicality.

Are they always swimming or do they lie down mostly? Cause I intend to grow a lawn of Utricularia graminifolia.

usually swimming. However, I have seen them destroying the soil in the shop by making a major "makeover" of the tank.
Finally. My recent acquisition.

agree, nice red finage
When posing down with mirror will display more red. But in neutral mood the finnages are blueish. But I prefer them red. hehe. Got them from Biotope.

Was wondering if I could add a few pairs of endlers with them. Not sure if suitable. I have some yamatos shrimps but they are not bother by the fishes. Anyone had any experience?

Any spawn from them??
No spawning. If no spawn I think safe to add endlers. I read that once it bred, the female will turn very aggressive just like apistos. I didn't do any special adjustments to the water. Just a lightly planted tank with ADA soil. pH maintain at 6.25.

Seldom hear successful spawns from this species.
Wonder what are the triggers to get them to spawn.
Was reading around and everyone that had successfully breed them had different water parameters. Some said very low pH whereas other manage to breed them at pH7.
How's yours? Saw your female when I collected mine. At that time your female had yellow orangish anal and ventral fins which is a sign of breeding. Thought sooner or later she will breed.
And also it seems like the wild ones are redder.
