What type of light for a HC lawn?

I have a 100 x 30 cm tank and plan to grow a HC lawn with hair grass. i have a light holder with 2 x 36 w bulbs. i think its not enough may i get some opinion on how many watts are necassary how many bulbs and any other suggestions?

My current light holder holds the 2 bulbs with like a screwable adapter. Like there is no quick catch or release you have to use a screw driver to take them out. Each bulb has 8 screws to attach them.

can i use the same light holder and just change to higher voltage bulbs?

Either way, cannot, you need to change the ballast also.

HC need lots of light, maybe ~4W per gallon.

thanks for the reply. ok i am am electronics dummy. so how or where do i change my ballasts? and what type of bulbs are reccomended? so do i just change the ballasts and the bulbs but can still use the current light holder? its for a 3 ft tank.

That's quite an odd size tank you have. Does not give much space except for 2 tube set up. Is it one of those Juwel tanks with multilux lightset? Like those in the RIO series?

If so, your option to upgrade is limited to changing a new set only.

yeah its a Juwel Record. i had changed the lights from the covered hood to a over head light holder.

so i assume i need more then 2 bulbs? how many would i need? and what types?

hi bro...why not take out the hood n get a 3 Tubes T5 Lightset...you need strong lights for a beautiful HC lawn...hope this helps
