Finally got to collect my sterbais this morning. Here are some photos. Actually only intend to get 10 pieces. But they are too cute to resist. Ended up with all these.

    And a closer look

I could see that some of them are females from the top view. And i thought they were filled with eggs. The stomach area very big. But then again hopefully it's eggs not bloated.

Here are some photos of them.

OOOH!!! You have one very gravid looking female! And a good choice of aquarium gravel!

When are we going to see a full tank shot? What tank mates do you have in mind?

    Cheers,

Well benny once i have the time to clean the tank's glass i will post up a whole tank shot.

Currently there are already 5 pieces of albino angel fish and also 1 goldent nugget. And also those cories which i have yet to sell.
In time to come i will make it into a sterbai only tank. Hoping they will breed successfully in this tank.

Nice looking sterbais....female looks good to start breeding

I have a friend who had about 5 adult sterbais in her 3 feet tank coverred with over-growing moss....few months later, she had more than 10 sterbais in her tank...was quite surprised and happy to see her sterbais breed for her and have baby sterbais bring smiles to her

are they relatively easy to breed without special setups?

Tank size is 3x1.5x1.5(ft). Currently using dark coloured river sand for all my tanks. Running 2 internal filters for this tank. Nothing much special. Will be adding a canister should i be adding in more fishes. As for plants i have 2 golden nanas in there. And also 2 melted down crypt which started to sprout some new leaves. But i am unsure of the name for the crypt.
I am thinking of tying some moss on the bogwood which i have in the tank. But i am unsure if i can keep the moss alive in this tank. So still considering on the moss plan.

    Pepe,
Nice to see you finally got your sterbai. And so many of them too. Cool! Hopefully one day can visit you and see the real thing.

Oh by the way, they don't have to be in a species tank to breed successfully. My pandas breed in a discus tank with some other types of cories and rummies. And when my sterbai breed last time, it was with some discus and espei. Think yours may be breeding very soon, keep a look out for it.

    Pepe,
Since I may not have the opportunity to set up a new cory species tank myself, I have a suggestion. If you set up a sterbai tank, try to use those fine river sand as substrate. That way, the larger spots of the sterbai would stand out. For pandas or those with fairer skin and no spots, use dark river sand as what you're using now. Just a thought I have in mind but probably would not be able to try it. What do you think?

very interesting setup! but your golden nugget needs more wood! and if you're planning to breed the sterbais, better get the nugget out of the tank as well... you're really tempting me to get more sterbais now!!!

I just made some changes to the tank. Will take some photos later and post up when the water clears up.

    luenny,
sure you can come over. Let me know when. As for the the sand i don't think i will change anytime soon. But my next species tank for cories i will keep your suggestions in mind and use it.

    iwishweallcouldwin,
Yup i added more wood in the setup already. But i don't think i have a spare tank to remove the golden nugget to. But now i got another crazy plan. Thinking of setting up a golden nugget species tank. Maybe can try breeding them

Hahaha ... looks like somebody is falling deeper and deeper into the trap. Before you know it you'll be setting up species tank for zebra pleco.

    Hi pepe2403,
Thanks for sharing those videos and tank info.

Maybe you can add some netting/sponge to those internal filters' inlet in case your sterbai lay eggs and the successfully hatched fries get sucked in accidentally.

    Cheers

You got some very nice specimens!
And I find the setup is also simple, effective and yet pleasant to the eyes.

    edit:
    I just recalled Heiko Bleher's ---> here
You might find his observations of different species of wild corydoras scholling together.
In particular, Corydoras haraldschultzi with C. sterbai.

    Many thanks for the compliments.
I still thinking of how to make improvements to the tank. Hopefully can phase out the internal filters. Find them a little unslightly.

You can replace the internal filter with an external filter such as Eden 501. They are readily available at most lfs such as C328 lfs.

    Cheers,
