I think those are not injured markings but rather red markings. But can't blame you cause it does looks like injury.
A. brietbinden. Not so sure of the spelling. Why are you helping genes to post? Fish belongs to you?

I being anal again, will like to correct the nameing convention.
It should be Apistogramma sp "Breitbinden".
Nic, it might be a good idea not to name the file "breit1.jpg"
just in case we took too long to guess for the answer

It is A. sp."Breitbinden" Sao Gabriel red cheek
