Making stock solutions are simple...however there are some basic thing that you will need to understand before making some...All of which you can find by searching this forum and have already been posted before. However, i will type it once again because most singaporeans are used to being spoon fed...So lets start..

For example, You have a 2 ft tank that you want to dose.
    1) decide how much of each solution you want to dose into the tank and on what days.. the schedule is totally up to you.
    2) Like Vinz has mentioned.. don't be too caught up about the minute details.. sometimes a bit of "agga-ration" is okay.

So for simplicity sake, lets say for example, you want to dose 30ppm of No3 from KNo3 into your tank on a WEEKLY basis.
So you also decide that you want to dose your tank 3 times a week... so simple mathematics would say that you need to dose 10ppm each time.
Say for example you also just happen to have a 500ml empty bottle and some KNo3 powder.
Now.. since your tank is the standard 2 ft tank.. then the volume of water is going to be roughly 15gallons or 50litres.
Now with all those numbers lets make a stock solution.

Go download chuck's calculator which has been sitting in the stickies of the beginners forum for ages and begin calculating...

Start the program and choose nutrient calculator.. because that is what you want, isnt it.. so its so obvious.

then more obvious actions to do will be to put down No3 from Kno3 as the ingredient you want to calculate..

Then followed by the obvious size of your tank which is about 15gals

now not so obvious would be to use a water volume of 400ml. This is because if your bottle is only 500ml.. then if you use 500ml in your calculation, then when you add the powder.. the volume is going to overflow. So use 400ml..IN this case only... since the example was 500ml bottle.

Now... the next part is up to you.
So take for example i want to dose 10ml of the solution each time..and i want to hit 10ppm by doing it.. thats means each ml i dose must be..TADA!! so smart.. 1ppm.

Put in some number where you see the grams and try to hit 1ppm on the bottom calculator.. for me i got 37grams.
So that means, if you take 37 grams of KNo3 and mix it with 400ml of water and dose that into your tank of 15gals.. THEN!! you'll get 1ppm per ml of dosage. Also this bottle would last you over 10weeks of dosing.

For measurement....i'm sure many scales can measure 37grams..

What I did lastime was take 250ml bottle, fill with 200ml of water, add 1 teaspoon of KNO3, dose 25ml each time (1/ but then getting lazy and use the small spoon instead.

wa.. where do find weighing scale?
I got a freebie from Singpost, because they were a client of someone I know. I think it was a corporate gift. You can try checking if they sell them.... for weighing letters in grams, not those for heavy parcels.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:

A woman: without her, man is nothing.
