What is your water change regime like? Using any de-chlorinators? As mentioned by skysky, could be heavy metals and they may come straight from the pipe due to rust etc.
Any kH/gH readings? Is this a CO2 injected tank?

I've got no use of metals in my tank, yet shrimps die because of ceramic rings. Thinks its best to have a shrimp tank with no use of metals and ceramics in it. I'm just sticking to foam for filteration. Sometimes, simple is best.
if ceramic rings were the cost of shrimps dying, i believe those CRS keepers having canesiter filter do have ceramic rings inside, but they are having no problem in shrimps...
Maybe some ceramic types are doomed to use with shrimps.....
i have used cheapo ceramic rings as well as biohome without any problems...
Having no metal in the tank doesn't mean your water does not contain heavy metal. The water you use may contain heavy metal when water runs through the pipes. You just can't tell what is in those pipes.
While a minimum amount of heavy metal may not be harmful to fishes, it may be lethal to shrimps as they are generally more sensitive than fishes.

My shrimps died mostly due to difference between having ceramics and no ceramics so it does pin point to the single major problem source.
you have replace the CR for how long and since then no more death? i am having these problem recently..it seems to affect the adult shrimps only...but the rest still breed like rabbits.. kinda of weird..
so far around 3-4 days. Same for me... only adult shrimps are affected but not the shrimplets. A partial water change after removal of CRs would help.
ic I see, no harm trying and see how ...but have to do it very very gradually...
