    4ft light set with 220W over a 3ft tank? Looks awkard?

    I think it is more than enough. Should cut back on lighting.

    argh!

    haha i am .

    i misread 120l as gallons . no wonder i was having a hard time finding suitable lights.

    mine is 31.7 US or 26.4 UK. so which should i use for reference.? ard 3 to 4 wats per gallon rite?

    benfit of the doubt i take US.

    ard 120 watts is optimum i suppose.

    Well... good if you have not bought the lights.

    Use the US Gallons for calculation. 3~4 W/g should be OK. Get fans to cool the tank too.

    A standard 3 foot tank is more than 31.7 Gallons, more close to 50 gallons for a tank that is 3 feet by 1.5 feet by 1.5 feet, right?
    That's mime. so at 3 watts per gallon you would need around 150 watts of light. I have 6 tubes of 30 watts each with a total of 180 watts byt I typically use only 4 or 5 tubes (120 ~ 150 watts)
    */Tank Specs*/
    50Gallon (90 X 45 X 45) Tetra Ex120, CO2 @1~2 bps, 4X30 watt @8 hrs
    29 Gallon (61X40X45cm) DIY ADA stand, Eheim 2215, Fishline 48w T5 light @8hrs
    17 Gallon Mr.Aqua (60X30X36cm) DIY ADA stand, Fishline T5 lights 48watts @7 hrs

    mine is slightly narrow. i used the calculator. its 100 cm x 30 cm x 45 cm/

    i am going to diy a 2 x 55w pl into my current 3 ft light set up which currently housed 2 x 36 w.

    i think 110 w is enough!

    any comments on this?
