Blackish water

Hi all

What is the difference between blackish water and normal water?
Does blackish water help to clear the cloudiness of the water?
Will it harm my Siam tiger, Pig nose turtle and other fishes in my tanks?
Could somebody clear my doubt.

Just my 2 cent worth...(i may be wrong though)
blackish water doesn't clear the cloudiness of the water. if i am not wrong, black water comes about because of stanning from minerals. for aquariums, black water usually arises from leeching of colours from driftwood, keptang leaves, etc etc.

It shouldn't harm your faunas if they orignate from water sources where the pH is low. Blackwater pH is usually low.

Best if other expert can chip in what they know.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I was recommend by one of the LFS to introduce a bottle of blackish solution for my fish tank.
Looking at the instruction, it seems too good to be true.
It can relieve the fishes stress, add minerals to the water and many other more benefits.
That is why, I would like to know if it really are so miracle.

agree and no. relieve stress for the fish provided that the fish is from low pH and soft water area like amazon, etc etc. But if you add black water to a lake malachi(spelling correct?) set up, chances are you will end up either stressing or killing those poor fish which generally enjoys and prefer hard and high pH water.

So the principle is using the right thing for the right purpose. SAF always teaches us to use the right tool for the right job. Right?

Perhaps you are right. I should not add any solution to my tank as my fishes are happy with what they have now. Thanks for providing me with such valuable point. I really appreciated your comments. You are indeed an obedient soldier.. Haha

Black water and brackish water are two different thing.

Black water is a non-scientific term applied to water that is lightly to strongly tea-colored as a result of humic acids, tannins and other organic materials leached from decaying vegetation. Such water is typically very low in pH and total dissolved solids. Black water conditions can be found in many parts of the Amazonian River Basin as well as the Asia.
