Sorry, what i mean is for the eden 501, do i need to mount it lower than the fish tank or both the tank and the filter can sit on my tv cabinet?

For Eden 501, you can either hang it on the tank glass or place the filter beside the tank.

Eden 501 flowrate is 300li/hour. i think it's recommended for tanks up to 1.5 feet so yours being almost a 1ft cube should be alright. i'm not sure what the output is like, but if it's like most canisters with a rainbar, face the rainbar to your glass and it can help reduce the strength of the flow if you find it too strong.

personally, i'd recommend getting that Atman filter that i've got since it has a larger media capacity than the Eden (large media capacity is the main advantage canister filters have over others right?), a valve to control flowrate (thus despite the 600li/hour marked on the filter, i still achieve an acceptable flowrate in my 1ft cube by adjusting the valve) and is dirt cheap (between 1/3 and 1/4 of the price of an Eden 501) =)

P.S. my tank is 27 litres

Using them very successfully on 25 liter tanks, flow rate is exactly right.

Flow rate will decrease slightly but noticeably within the first few weeks, this is due to gunk buildup in the tubes' walls. If this bothers you, clean out the tubes every few weeks. Filter doesn't need cleaning nearly that often, my filter canister has been untouched for four months now.

Found the Eden to be much more silent than HOB filters (although I personally don't know the Atman iluminae is so very fond of). Hate to say it, but: please ignore any comparisons of the filters' capacity, neither filter does offer nearly enough to provide noteworthy biological filtering. Filters of this size mainly filter on a mechanical level, the biological filtering mainly takes place within the tank.
    Cheers

hi illumnae, hows the HOB filter doing? im in the same spot as you are some time ago... my choices are the resun cy20 and the jaebo atman HOB... and still the HOB is half the price of the cy20... if your HOB is still ok, i might as well consider it...

sorry for the other options you guys, they are just not available from here...

    thanks in advance!

Hi, i ended up switching to canisters as while the HOB did indeed match the canisters for media capacity and flowrate, one thing I found was that the flow was very localized, which didn't provide adequate water movement around the whole tank. This is bad for planted tanks canisters allow for better flow to be spread via rainbars.

however, if yours is a fish-only tank, go with the HOB
