So next time get a realiable canister like those selling in NA with life time warranty for the main valve.
Good to hear you've solved the problem.

Hi folks,
I had a good experience at Bioplast aka Systems and Control today.
I posted about my co2 woes earlier in http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=29972
This mroning, I went back to Bioplast to get the cannister checked out.
Basically I told the boss that I came for a top up the previous Sunday, and by Wednesday the tank went flat, and asked if he can help to check for leaks.
He proceeded to check the cannister and discovered that the problem is with the main valve, basically, co2 is escaping from the nut at the main tap on the cannister. He went on to dismantle the valve and started to tinker wit the parts inside.
I sensed that this will probably take some time, so I to pack lunch and bought some groceries etc.
When I got back to the shop about 20-25 minutes later... he was still at it and was perspiring quite a bit. He did not have the correct parts for a replacement, but he told me the way to prevent the leak is to open the tap fully instead of just a little (which I had done).
I then asked him to top up the tank, and after topping up, he did the soapy water test and confirmed that I should open the tap fully.
When it is time to pay, guess what, he only charged me for the gas at the standard rate.
For close to half an hour, he sweated over the cheapo, made in china cannister and valve, but charged me nothing for it, well, sure some may feel that he probably took into account that I had only top up the cannister one week ago, but then, it was no fault of his that it leaked.
Cheers!
P.S. The system is running now, I am cautiously confident that the problem has been solved.

I seconded bossteck experience at Systems & Control.
Brought my tank for top-up there too.
Told the boss that my CO2 tank got water inside.
He proceeded to help me clear it and the top-up.
No extra charges for the additional effort.

Excellent service and satisfied customer, applause for the service provided by the boss.
Good to hear that your problem is solved.![]()

Muhaaaa, a good excuse to shop for a new C02 tank

Hi bossteck...good to hear that your CO2 cylinder problem is solved...to Bioplast for its excellent service...
Glad to hear that. The boss seems to be a no nonsense kind of guy. Quiet and efficient. When I went there he was also tinkering at some parts, I asked for a refill for my canister, and he went straight to work with it. And before I could finish ogling at his chilled display tanks (around 5 mins), he was out with my canister all filled.

Hi Guys,
Thanks, I am happy to report that the tank is still working fine and that bioplast had fixed it.![]()

I like that shop very much, always try to visit and get some nice mosses.![]()

Hi,
Yes. That's what the boss at Bioplast told me to do.
Since my last refill (which is on the date of my first post in this thread) the cylinder is still running, so I can safely say there are no more leaks.

Thanks for the clarification. It can be quite dangerous if it's opened fully cos if the regulator is not tightened tightly enough the chances of the regulator shooting off is high.
BTW want to know how many of the bros here open the main valve fully?

last time bought my co2 cylinder from NA. was told to turn main valve 2 - 3 rounds..

Hey guys,
I had bad experience with leaking C02 canister 2 years ago...
You see, i bought somehow on promotion sale on that C02 canister which cost me Sgd 40 ..a very good buy. So refilled 3 x, just few days time heard the leaking sound from the shut valve, so i shut tight at it. No improvement and that leaking sound was still there.
Went back to the same LFs, and demand a replacement for the faulty C02 cansiter( still under warranty). But the owner pointed that any C02 canister with brass regulator with handle in blue or red handle cap, are totally unreliable and often has leaking problem. But the LFS owner offered to exchange for another full canister with stainless steel regulatar and shutting cap but had to top up another SGD45 more (10 years warranty)
No choice just top up more to get a better cansiter for my children's safety reason or else those high pressurised canister of nearly 2000psi will beam their face off. touchwood! touchwood! That the facts.
Beware.. dont buy any C02 canister@ brass regulator with any coloured shut valve cap.

Hi Aquarius, EvolutionZ and Eddy,
It never occured to me the dangers of opening the valve fully. Now that you mentioned it, I am kinda worried. Thanks for the heads-up.
I have already bought a better cylinder couple of months back from Benny, was intending to do a switch once the current one runs out, think I will push the date forward as soon as I find the time for it.

for co2 canister main valves, since i started using them, i have always turned them fully, then reversed back 3/4 to 1/1/2 rounds
had been told to do so by the local lfs uncle i bought my 1st ever canister from
and subsequently when i bought from NA, i asked chan and he said the same thing
i have no scientific evidence to prove that this is safer
but it doesnt hurt to do so
helps me sleep better despite knowing i have a pressurised metal can barely 2 meters from me![]()
It seems that from what eddy says, there is a possibility that if the main valve is of better quality, then there won't be any leaks from there even if you don't turn it open fully.
We'll have to see what the rest says about their own experiences to try and conclude if this is so a not.

I only turn the main valve open enough to let the CO2 out into my regulator. I stop turning the moment the needle moves from 0 psi to the usual full reading.
I don't see any advantage to turn it any more than that.![]()

Hello guys,
I apologize for the buttin i like this but can someone post or pm me Bioplast tel number, web address if any and their email address...thx!
I open mine all the way and have never experienced any issues with my regulator leaking or otherwiseOriginally Posted by lee1224

we have an lfs directory link at the top of the page, you can check there
im not sure actually if theres any difference between turning fully vs not
but that was what i was told by the lfs owner where i bought my 1st ever co2 tank from
have been doing that ever since
and since till date it works and no problems, im not inclined to change anything!![]()
