No... he will outgrow the tank very soon. if u dun give him a bigger tank in time, he will get stunted.. which means he will never grow bigger again. and that is very painful for the aro.. or any other fish. just imagine yourself locked in a 1.3m tall room since birth...

I'm keeping a sliver Arowana in a 2.5 ft tank but they'll have a 3 or 4 ft tank in Nov.

Recent post on 4 feet tank prices.

For an arowana, you have to get a tank at least 4 feet long and 2 feet wide. The height can be 1.5 feet. Depending on the variety, an asian arowana can grow up to 2 to 3 feet long. You should consider a 6 foot tank either now or when it gets bigger.

minimum long term home for an asian aro is 5x2
if you can have bigger will be better
4x2 is recommended as a minimum size..but somehow i think bigger is better ... well just imagine if your aro is 2ft..so it in a 4x2 tank is like a foot long luohan in a 2x1ft tank. not too much space...and aros are very thick too.

south american aros like silvers and blacks actually grow longer though not as big as aros. they are much more serpentine too ... size require IMO can be same

My RTG grew from 6 inches to 11 in less then 6months. So a 2 feet tank wouldn't last an asian aro very long.

I can vouch for that. I bought my RTG at 3" and was housed in a 2' temporarily. It out grew the tank in 2 mths. Currently, it's in a 3' tank and it's already 9" . Grew from 3" to 9" in 3 mths!
