I think it should rather be Eichhornia diversifolia. A similar looking plant right-most in Gan's tank is the Eichhornia azurea.----------------

koah fong, its on the one u can see in the 2nd pic, the one that is growing emerse isnt the same.... that emersed plant dun have much submersed leave.. the whole plant is visible by the emerse portion.. the plant is bare under the water... think not enuff light
Simon,
I think some plants shed their aquatic leaves after they break the water surface.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Hi All,
Anyone have any experience with Eustralis Stellata? I have 2 stalks cultivated emersely that are transplanted into my tank 2 months ago. They are growing very, very slowly and their original leaves have all melted.
Like to know how long it will take to see their full glory?
Teo guys suggested removing the emersed leave.. I too had that prob, the emerse form was too slow, so they gave me a few submerse plant... now happily growing
Vinz: Yes. One good example is the Gratiola sp.----------------

WRT to the E. stellata, I thought a submersed plant would not tolerate transplanting. In fact, I was told to cultivate it in water with the emersed form.
You should see the submersed leaves coming out within a week.
If you want to see their full glory you should have lots of light and iron.

geoffrey, I too dun agree to a totally striping of the emersed leave, jus leave a few.. anyway, benetay got some emersed E. stellata.. see how he's goes
I also got one emersed stalk from Teo's to try. Close to two weeks already. There's lots of new shoots growing out of each node but seem to resemble emersed form. Must wait further. No leaves dropping though.----------------

IMO, it takes ages b4 they completely change to submerse plus the leaves is sparsely at first and slowly they will grow more

IMO, too much iron can do more harm than good for some plants that are not iron hungry. I added E15, which is a bivalent iron, with K and Mn. And I noticed my other plants started to have holes on their leaves. At first I thought it was too much NO3 but after I tested the water, I found it to be at a level that is not harmful (25-50mg/l). The only thing I did b4 the holes appeared was adding the E15.

KF, those new shoots wouldn't grow, at least for mine. You are right, they still resemble the emersed form and slowly they will also melt out. Right now, I have new submerged shoot with the lilac hue on the underside of their leaves growing, but they are really very slow.Big empty space reserve for it.
Simon, u are tempting me to burn a big big hole in my pocket again. My wife is going to drown me in my tank water if I dare to tell her I want to upgrade to a 6 footer now.[]
jason, thats my aim![]()
With my Mh directly under the e.stellata , very thick base fert and 4bps Co2 injection hope to archive good results minus the algae =)
Cheers!
Benetay
Wow, benetay u even have MH light under the plant. Isn't that going to be an expensive heater?[----------------
