Hi friends, here's a little update of my Betta foerschi 'Tankiling'. Have been keeping this pair for few months and still no luck in breeding them.

    Here's the male:

Here's the suspected female, a very shy specimen.

Is it a female foerschi afterall ?? Dear gurus, please help me with the verification of the sex ID. Thanks~~

    Regards,
    zhan

    Thanks Scope,

But I have difficulty in getting them to mate and breed... Probably it's the hot weather here.

    cheers,

What does your tank setup look like? pH?

Maybe just maybe someday I will try out some wild bettas...

Hmm...just a typical M-size five-plan tank...with lots of java ferns, a few ketapang leaves and a sponge filter. pH wise I didn't really measure...and the water is slightly brownish(deeper than yellowish). I used to give them dark brown water, but the java ferns are not doing too well without proper light penetration, so I kind of try to reduce the acidity and make the water more transluscent.

Their diets includes ADP, brineshrimps, pinheads, tubifex worms and various insects which flew into my room when it rains.

Every week, I'll do a 15% wc and top off with cold water...hopefully to trigger them to mate. So far, this is my only mouth-brooding bettas and I really hope to breed this pair as they looked quite matured in my opinion.

You can give wild bettas a try too, but erm.... it can be pretty addictive. I just got myself another 5 species of bubble-nesters from the Great Hall recently. If not due to my hostel's space constraint, I had probably get even more bettas to try out.

    cheers,
    zhan
