    Hi all,

I was wondering whether anyone knows which LFS in the East of Singapore (around East Coast/Marine Parade/Bedok) has stock for algae eaters. Particularly interested in Yamato Shrimps. Sam's at Marine Parade ran out.

My tank is a small 30L tank, so big algae eaters might not be suitable.

    Thank you!

What kind of algae eaters you are looking for? You might want to describe your problems at the Algae sub-forum first...
    Read me! http://justikanz.blogspot.com/

    I'm crypt collecting... Starting cheap, now have Cryptocoryne beckettii, C.beckettii var petchii, C.crispatula var.balansae, C.griffithii(Melted! ), C.nurii, C.parva, C.pygmaea(Melted! ), C.tonkinensis(Melted! ), C.walkeri, C.wendtii 'Brown', C.wendtii 'Green', C.wendtii 'Green Gecko', C.wendtii 'Tropica' and Cryptocoryne x willisii

Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...

I'm more doing some prevention rather than cure. I do not have an algae problem per se, but I was thinking maybe I should put them algae eaters in first, say in about a week's time when my tank is about 2 weeks old as prescribed in some of the articles I've seen online. I do not want to be scrambling for algae eaters at the last minute.

Or should I wait for there to be an algae problem first?

You may start with 2 otos first, and later perhaps some yamatos or malayan shrimps. Most good lfs have them, perhaps Sam Yicks at Marine Parade might have them or Ecoculture @ Paya Lebar.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I've put in a couple of yamatos. I hope they live long. Will get a couple of otos or plecos as time passes and the tank is more stable.
