    dear all,

I saw larva wrapped in my plant leaves in my tank. the leaves actually bitten off from the plant in tank and wrapped the larva.

i suspect my crs gone is due to that insect which i cant find it except the larva that i saw.

did anyone experience this before?? how to solve this?

i forgot to take the pic of larva. now trying very hard to find that culprit.

use a net and wait for it to appear. this is the only way to catch it. if not you can ask bro Bigthing how he caught the insect in his tank.

It could be a nymp and they are tough fellas, you have to get rid of them fast if not all your CRS will be gone in no time.

i still can't find that culprit.. i took out most of the stone and plant so that less places for them to hide. it's quite hard to find them in 4ft tank. hopefully today i can find them

Re: Help! insect in my tank!!

    Hi bro,

From your description, it sounds like something i caught out from my tank before. It is a caddisfly larvae. It is a larvae of a moth. It should be harmless to your crs (but don't take my word for it) in the larval stage but it will chomp off all your leafed plants! So it is best to catch it out.

http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...=green+palette - refer to my post of it with pictures and you can search caddisfly or google to read up more.

It sure is hard to find them because they use the leafs in your tank to build homes! talk about good camouflage!

Good luck for your search bro.

    green palette,

based on your pic it's similar but the larva is white color and much smaller.

untill today i still can't find it. and so far no more such larve in the tank. hopefully it attached together with the plant that i throw away.

    bro bigfthing,

don't know yet. hope i wont see this creature in my tank

anyway to ensure our tank is insect free??
