Are you guys building a skimmer?
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

    Stephen,

Sure, I'll keep you posted. Would very much like to get it from a local supplier.

    Rohaizal,
I'm trying it out as CO2 reactor. Looking @ a similar concept as protein skimmer to dissolve CO2.
    Cheers,

You might need a pressurised pump to get the effect but as a co2 reactor, the amount of co2 might be high. Just a guesstimate only. Report back on your finding whether it is feasible.

Bro, I've just started a new thread in Equipment & Accessories section on DIY lighting set. Feel free to contact me via PM if you need further details.

BTW, any luck on the injector at Reef Depot? Thanks
    Cheers,

I just received a reply from them and they says their product are being sold here in singapore. But, since they are not into aquarium business they don't know what I am looking for. Will go down to reef depot today.

Just my two cents comment and my DIY experience for external CO2 reactor.

I got the idea from one of our forum brother then I enhanced it slightly. The material required to construct will be less than $10, provided you have epoxy glue and pvc glue .

    Material used :

    - 1m long ~ 3" diameter PVC pipe
    - 2 screw caps and grove which fit exactly for the PVC . You can service it !
    - 2 brass head (with screw to fasten) for both end which can fit 16cm water hose
    - 2 hose and head fastener (like a ring )
    - pvc glue
    - silicon seal
    - epoxy (hard)
    - 1 L-shape air connector
    - 1 Co2 check valve
    - ~10 bioball

    Fixture :

    - drill 2 holes on the screw caps
    - put the brass head through the hole with silicon seal inside the cap then tighten with the screw came with the brass head . Do the same to the other cap.
    - drill a small hole 3 inch below the cap on the PVC pipe and apply some silicon seal on the L-shape connector and stick it in the small hole.
    - once the silicon seal on this small hole is harden , use epoxy (hard) to strengthen the L-shape connector so that it will not shake and secure.
    - fill up bioball inside the PVC pipe and close both caps.
    - secure the ring fastener for the brass head and the water hose
    - cut a some air tube and connect Co2 checkvalve on the air tube. Fasten the tube with cable tie on the check valve and the L-shape connector.

How efficient (you tell me) :
    - my 6' tank setup
    2262 filter --> PVC co2 reactor --> chiller --> tank
    - I can blast the full co2 into the reactor and no CO2 bubble come out, the fish will gasp for air within 15mins.

Thanks for sharing, Neon. You should have done this earlier. BTW, what's the size of bioball you are using?

Lastly, don't mind sharing some photo with us? Thanks.

    neon,

Yeah..I think I saw this in the forum b4 but with less bioballs. Really want to see you how to make it...

Where is the inlet at? The end that is neared to the co2 inlet? or the other way?

    uklau,

Oh..I went down to reef depot this afternoon and ask them about the mazzei injector. The guy who serve me Seet told me that he can't be sure the efficiency of the injector and also is very demanding on the pump as there are alot of back pressure. I think neon's design is pretty good.

    neon,

you reactor must be very big? So, the bio ball is not very pact inside the reactor. I think it will only fill less than 1/3 of the reactor.

I have to remove the setup in order to show you. Give me few days , I will try to remove it during my next water change.

Again, I am not preaching for just total CO2 mix , in fact I am using two methods in my 6' tank. 1st one is the external reactor I mentioned, the second one is CO2 mist method by using internal reactor UPS brand with Tom Barr's design concept + rain bar.

    Cheers
